The weather doesn’t look too good for this weekend. I hope the weather will be nice the following weekend so that climbers can enjoy climbing outdoors.
Today, I would like to talk about a problem on the lead wall of the Bibai City Sports Center. It is a pink-taped problem, 5.10b.
This problem was set as a qualifying problem for Kids (top rope) and Youth D (lead) categories for the “8th Junior Sports Climbing Nara Cup” held the other day.

This problem is surely more difficult than the Orange 5.10a problem on the same wall as there are some difficult holds to grab, and a simple ladder move (bringing up the left and right hands and foots in order while climbing) does not work in some sections.
There are also some sections where a simple ladder move (bringing up the left and right hands and foots in order while climbing) does not work, and observation* before climbing becomes very crucial.
※To imagine how to climb while looking at a problem before climbing, such as how go grab holds in what order or how to bring up foots.
It’s not a problem that requires climbing straight up but a problem that goes slightly right, left, and right, so this problem is a longer route than Orange 5.10a.
Therefore, when you send this problem, I’m sure you’ll feel a different sense of accomplishment compared with when you send Orange 5.10a.
It is not an easy problem, but if you can send 5.10a, please try this pink-taped 5.10b when you come to climb in Bibai.
